Browsing through my phone, wondered what made me get this one.
Just a bunch of clouds, over the sea.

on closer inspection , there was this glint of something. I hope its what I think I see. It surely must have struck a chord, surely something to see.

Yes, I remember the other day, this lovely thing, that shone and caught my eye.
the small excitement caused a spark of reaction , to the snap happy state of mine.

I can see it so clearly, looking at it now.
I wonder if the hint of gold beneath the cloud is the pot I long to find.

what you are seeing there my dear is a dissipating band of thunderstorm cells or you average day rain clouds. On the left is whats called a fully formed 'CUMULONIMBOUS' Cloud with the nice lovely part known as an 'ANVIL' on the top. Next to it, on the right is a developing Cumulonimbous. Get close enough to one of those and you will indeed find your 'pot of gold' but in the form of ice crystals and hail stones the size of oranges. But hey, who knows, you might just be lucky enough to find an actual piece of gold that came out of Zues's ass or somthing so dont loose hope :=D.
isnt tropical meteorology fun??? isnt it....ISNT IT???
-Associate professor Theodor Cockinglong-
You dream of pots? Whatever floats your boat I guess. Nice rainbow though.
Assoc. Proffessor Cockinglong,
Thank you very much for the definitive meteorological descriptions of the phenomenon known as the rainbow and its counterpart the "cumulonibous". Certainly been an education.
I will never look at a cloud the same way again.
I still hold cynicism with regards the hail stones and ice crystals though. Is it possible in the clouds of our hot temperate climate? Surely it must be melt and be seen as concentrations of mist?
Hamzah - Well I was speaking of the "proverbial pot of gold" at the end of a rainbow. Being into pots (barr that s) isnt frowned upon either. but unlike the kind proffressor had mentioned the gold doesnt come out of Zue's ass but the phrase is related to possibly Irish folklore- meant to be where the lepricorns hide their crock of gold. They say you'll find it at the end of a rainbow. (probably meaning, somewhere you'll never reach or hard to find, but if you do your one lucky person).
Murasakionacid-
ok heres a question for you? what happens to the temperature as the height increases? and yes you can get ice crystals and hail stones INSIDE THE Cb CLOUDs....EVEN IN TEH TROPICS!!!!the key word....INSIDE. i never said anything about hail stones and ice crystals falling to the surface of the earth in hot climates now did i?? ;)
here..let me enlighten your glorious wisdom of random information even more. Most weather phenomenon occurs in the lowest layer of our atmosphere, known as (with drum rolls) THE TROPOSPHERE. the temperature in the troposphere typically decreases by 2degrees per thousand feet. but theres a catch. you'll be surprised to find that in the tropics when you ascend through the atmosphere it gets colder much quicker than in higher lattitudes or polar regions. why?basicly in hot climates the warm air rise much quickly due to the heat and as it rises it becomes less dense and expands to a much greater degree reducing the temperature even more.
The top of the troposphere, known as (drum roll again) THE TROPOPAUSE varies in height from around 26,000ft over the poles to around 60,000ft over the equator. once again this massive difference in height is due to the the difference in density of air in both regions caused by the surface temperatures of the regions. You will be surprised to know that the temperature at the tropopause is much lower over the equator and the tropics (around -70 to -80 degrees) than the temp. of the tropopause over the poles (around -50 to -60 degrees).
people often have this misconseption that warm nice sunny places will bring stable weather patterns but its anything but. the most violent weather patterns are started in the tropics that move either north or south.
but then again, where you are, you only see a little bit of everything.why? because the little island nation known as 'the whifff' is located neither here no there...where the tropical cyclonic belt ends or where the hurricane belt begins (which ever way you wanna see it). so pretty much the arse end of everything. just like everything else in 'the wiff' i suppose!!(ok...maybe the odd occasional thunderstorm in the wet monsoon) If you want to c some real tropical weather phenomenon go to the far east or south america even.

Oh my I'v truly been enlightened.. cumnlinga? cumulonibous? cockinglong?
I am picturing things i dont wanna see when i think of clouds.. grr
As for the journey to the end of the rainbow can i tag along.. and maybe we can find our pot of acid :)
Assoc. Proffessor Cocky-bastard,
Thanks for the cut and paste material out of the text book, and if the information has been re-gurgitated from your memory, I have no doubt you'll pass your exams with 'flying' colours, perhaps even on an aeroplane. Neverthless thats very interesting information,if only a breeze from that tropopause, occassionally passes this way, lately its been 'al scorch-io' all day long.
South america..hmmm I like brazil.
SHANU, yeah your my 'partey', and how many a times have we gone on escapades and even found, many a pots of the "proverbial acid" good trips , bad trips and all of it without regrets. Missing you darling. X
MurasakiOnCrack(a.k.a BITCH)-
NOw now.theres no need to call each other vulgar names. :D ;)
firstly, the information comes not from my text book but from information stored in the depths of my long term memory....(which possibly may have been transferred to my brain....*cough cough*...from a text book)and also, years of appilication of my knowledge(and several near death experiences...those fucking met forecasters hardly ever get it right!!! WANKERS)
secondly, there is indeed a breeze from the tropopause. its called a JET STREAM. but unfortunately they dont occur over the 'whiff' so ur just gonna have to make some lemonade or somthing! no wait....may i suggest a stand fan instead? actually...try eating a hot vindaloo...that'll give you some serious 'arse' breeze!
Assoc. Professor Theodor Cockinglong
Poff. Cockinglong,
murasakioncrack/acid, makes no difference - same thing in my book. BITCH I am indeed, too right!
yes if we are to start name calling, might not be the wisest of ideas, so Watch it BOI!
I have three word for you, ninja bathtub, and turtle. rings a bell?
now thats a good boy my love.

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!
Mike
